Where is Koelenhof Wine Cellar?

We are on Klipheuwel Road (the R304), just off the N1 on the way into Stellenbosch, Western Cape. It is about 13 minutes from Stellenbosch town centre, 30 minutes from Cape Town CBD and 30 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. Our full address and directions are on the visit page.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Thursday 09:00 – 17:00, Friday 09:00 – 16:00, Saturday and public holidays 10:00 – 16:00. We are closed on Sundays. The last tasting is hosted an hour before closing.

Do I need to book a wine tasting?

Booking is recommended, especially on weekends and public holidays. You can book a tasting online. Cellar tours must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

What tastings and pairings do you offer?

A standard tasting of five wines, a chocolate and wine pairing, a sorbet and wine pairing, a bubbly and treat pairing, a cellar tour with tasting, and a kids' grape juice tasting. Current options and prices are listed on the wine tasting page.

How much does a wine tasting cost?

Prices depend on the tasting or pairing you choose, and we keep them on one page so they are always current: see the wine tasting page.

Can I bring children?

Yes. Children are welcome, and the kids' grape juice tasting gives them their own flight with treats and an activity sheet. There is also a play park, and we host kids' parties.

Is Koelenhof pet friendly?

No. Koelenhof is not pet friendly, and pets are not allowed on the farm. Please make arrangements for your animals before visiting — we would rather tell you now than turn you away at the gate.

Do you offer cellar tours?

Yes. The cellar tour runs at 11:00 and 14:00, Monday to Friday, followed by a standard wine tasting. It must be booked at least 24 hours ahead.

Can we eat at Koelenhof?

Yes. There is roosterkoek from the braai, picnic baskets for the lawn, and a full menu if you are staying for lunch.

Is there a wine club?

Yes — KOELVIP members get 15% off Koelenhof wines. You can join the wine club or log in at checkout if you are already a member.

Can I buy wine online?

Yes, the full range is available on this site, and every wine poured in the tasting room can also be bought at the cellar. Delivery options and costs are set out in our delivery policy.
